Description of the service
On our website, www.bike24.com, we offer products in the areas of cycling, sports and leisure. Our customer service can be reached by phone at +49 (0) 351 / 417 497 - 50 (Mon – Fri, 8:00 am – 6:00 pm CET/CEST) or via our contact form.
Applicable requirements
We strive to make our website accessible. The accessibility requirements derive in particular from Section 14 of the German Accessibility Strengthening Act (Barrierefreiheitsstärkungsgesetz, BFSG) in conjunction with Section 3 (1) and (2) BFSG, with reference to the Ordinance on the Accessibility Strengthening Act (BFSGV).
In addition, our website is subject to Directive (EU) 2019/882 (European Accessibility Act) as transposed into the national law of the EU member states in which we offer our services.
Compliance with the accessibility requirements
To achieve accessibility, we have followed the requirements of the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG), version 2.1, conformance level AA.
To implement the WCAG, we have taken the following measures:
Perceivable
- By changing our color design, we have ensured sufficient color contrast across the entire website.
- We have chosen font, font size and font style with accessibility in mind.
- Our content can be enlarged or adjusted using browser or system functions.
Operable
- The core functions of the website – including product search, access to category and content pages, adding products to the shopping cart and completing purchases via various payment options – can be accessed using the keyboard.
- We have implemented modal windows, pop-ups and drop-down menus so that they support keyboard navigation.
- Keyboard traps have been removed.
Understandable
- Our website is logically structured and easy to navigate.
- The focus indicator is visible for most interactive elements, and the focus order has been arranged in a logical sequence.
- Forms and input fields largely provide error feedback to help users correct errors.
Robust
- Wherever possible, we have used semantically correct HTML to provide meaningful structures and contexts for assistive technologies.
- Accessible names and appropriate ARIA attributes have been implemented to improve the screen reader experience.
Despite our efforts, some parts of the website are not yet fully accessible. Known limitations include:
- For a small number of elements, the keyboard focus indicator may not be clearly visible, or keyboard navigation still needs to be restored.
- For some components, screen reader support can be improved further.
- A global “skip to main content” mechanism is missing, which would improve navigation via keyboard and assistive technologies.
We are actively working to resolve these limitations so that our website can be used in a fully accessible manner in the future.
