Giant bikes – From OEM pioneer to global leader
Giant began as a manufacturing partner for other brands, including Schwinn, before establishing itself as a global force under its own name in the 1980s. Since then, the company has continued to push the industry forward. Giant was among the first brands to bring carbon-frame technology into large-scale production and still develops every Advanced model at its GTM facility in Taichung. Additional production sites in the Netherlands, China, and Vietnam support riders around the world. The company's hands-on approach extends far beyond frame manufacturing. Giant oversees everything from development and production to quality control, while brands such as Cadex and Liv reflect the breadth of its expertise. Cadex delivers high-performance wheels and components for elite competition, while Liv offers cycling apparel and bikes developed for women by women. Today, Giant supplies the UCI WorldTour Team Jayco AlUla and continues to combine manufacturing depth with proven race performance. It's a formula that has earned the trust of everyone from first-time riders to lifelong enthusiasts.
Why riders choose Giant
Three reasons riders choose Giant:
- In-house carbon expertise: Advanced frames are developed and manufactured at Giant's GTM facility in Taichung without relying on third-party suppliers.
- More bike for your money: In-house production, from frames to components, helps keep costs down without compromising performance.
- A bike for every rider: From kids' mountain bikes to WorldTour race machines, Giant's lineup covers every style of riding.
The Giant bike lineup at a glance
One of Giant's greatest strengths is the depth of its lineup. Each bike family is purpose-built for a specific discipline and spans everything from entry-level models to professional-grade platforms. The Defy, TCR, and Propel cover endurance riding, all-round racing, and aero performance on the road. In the gravel category, the Revolt family offers aluminum and carbon options across a wide range of price points. Mountain bikers can choose between the XTC (XC hardtail), Anthem (XC full suspension), Trance (trail), and Reign (enduro). On top of that, Giant offers one of the strongest e-bike lineups in the industry.
- Giant road bikes: Contend, Defy, TCR, and Propel – from endurance riding to aero racing, featuring fully integrated cockpits and Advanced carbon frames from the mid-range up.
- Giant gravel bikes: The Revolt family combines aluminum and carbon options with bikepacking mounts and D-Fuse vibration-damping technology.
- Giant e-bikes & mountain bikes: From the entry-level Talon hardtail to the Reign E+ enduro e-bike for demanding trails and long-range adventures.
Giant technologies – What goes into the frame
Giant develops and manufactures its frames entirely in-house, from carbon to aluminum. Behind each model name is a clearly defined technology platform. Advanced SL represents Giant's highest-grade carbon construction, while Advanced delivers performance-focused carbon technology at a more accessible level. Every platform is designed to balance weight, stiffness, and ride quality according to the demands of its intended discipline.
Giant Advanced SL Composite
Giant's Advanced SL models represent the brand's highest grade of carbon construction. The material is hand-laid in Taichung and cured in Giant's own high-temperature ovens. The result is a frame that delivers greater stiffness than conventional carbon designs at a significantly lower weight. Since 2022, Advanced SL frames have also been raced at the highest level with Team Jayco AlUla in the WorldTour peloton.
Giant Advanced Composite
Advanced Composite is the second tier in Giant's carbon hierarchy and can be found in models such as the TCR Advanced Pro and Revolt Advanced. It offers an excellent stiffness-to-weight ratio at a lower price point than Advanced SL, making high-performance carbon bikes more accessible without compromising manufacturing quality.
Giant OverDrive steerer tube
The OverDrive steerer system increases the contact area between the fork and frame. It uses a 1 1/2" lower headset bearing and a 1 1/4" upper bearing within a tapered steerer design. This construction reduces front-end flex and improves steering precision, especially through high-speed corners and during hard efforts on climbs.
Giant D-Fuse technology
D-Fuse is Giant's vibration-damping system for seatposts and handlebars. Its D-shaped profile allows controlled vertical flex while maintaining lateral stiffness. On the road and trail, this translates to reduced vibration at the hands and saddle, particularly over long distances and rough surfaces. The technology is used primarily on the Defy and Revolt platforms, where long-distance comfort and control are equally important.
