Just in time for the 25th anniversary of the world’s first balloon bike tire, it’s here: Schwalbe’s Motion Big Apple—a tire that makes a bold statement thanks to its modern design and the highest standards in environmental friendliness. It is the direct successor to the Big Ben and the predecessor to the Big Apple.

The environmental friendliness of the Schwalbe Motion Big Apple wire bead tire:

• Addix Green: Schwalbe’s most eco-friendly rubber compound, offering consistent performance while containing 80% renewable raw materials and recycled materials.
• Among other things, it uses 100% recycled carbon black (recovered Carbon Black, rCB) from Schwalbe’s tire recycling program.
• Made from 100% fair-trade natural rubber.

Comfort and damping—the Schwalbe Motion Big Apple absorbs every bump at low air pressure and rolls easily over asphalt as well as forest trails. It offers absolute comfort and, thanks to its large size, cushions every impact—without the need for complex suspension technology. The versatile tread pattern incorporates modern design elements that are also reflected in the sidewall structure of the Motion Big Apple. 

Intended Use – The Motion Big Apple is suitable for electric bikes in the touring and urban segments, as well as for non-motorized touring bikes and city bikes. It’s ideal for daily commutes to work, as well as for classic bike tours. The Big Apple is also a great choice for kids’ and youth bikes, as well as lightweight, non-motorized cargo bikes.

New Motion Product Family – The Motion Big Apple is also the first touring tire to be included in Schwalbe’s new product lineup. “Motion” represents a new product family within Schwalbe’s city/touring segment—complementing the well-known Marathon family. Additional tires from the Motion family will be introduced in 2026.
