The EX 1700 wheelsets embody all of DT Swiss’s expertise in aluminum wheel building. They’re built around 72T Ratchet hubs combined with welded, ultra-sturdy 30mm aluminum rims. The rim profile is designed to be sturdy enough to satisfy even the best enduro riders, yet light enough to let you climb your favorite trail with ease. Laced with Competition Race spokes, the EX 1700 wheels can easily withstand even the toughest enduro conditions.

5-Degree Engagement Angle. Following the introduction of Ratchet DEG technology with the DT 240 models, the DT 350 hubs now also feature this quick-engaging freewheel system, but use 72 teeth instead of 90—resulting in a no less crisp engagement angle of 5°. The design is specifically aimed at mountain bikers and promises not only more direct suspension response on the trail but also faster power transfer and an even more distinctive sound.

Details of the DT Swiss EX 1700

The rim profiles were specifically developed for tubeless use. They guarantee a perfect fit and make tire installation as easy as possible. Nevertheless, it is always possible to use a conventional combination of tires and an inner tube.

The DT Pro Lock spoke nipples prevent the spoke-nipple connection from coming loose on its own. A patented two-component adhesive is injected into the nipple thread, enabling the construction of extremely durable wheelsets. As soon as the nipples are screwed in, the adhesive is activated and then cures completely. Repeated realignment is possible without any issues, although the adhesive strength decreases slightly with each realignment.

DT Swiss hubs are known for the “No-Tool” concept. This concept allows for tool-free conversion to all common axle and freewheel body standards. All DT Swiss Ratchet System hubs can be converted.

The Ratchet System hubs are unique because all the teeth of the two discs engage simultaneously every time. In the case of ratchet hubs, the engagement surface is quite small. With the Ratchet System, however, the entire end faces engage with one another, resulting in significantly lower point loading. The result is the legendary reliability of Ratchet System hubs.
