DOT 5.1™

Heat is the enemy of every braking system. Better heat management also makes your ride significantly safer. SRAM has found that DOT 5.1 has a length of three times as long as DOT 4 before it reaches its boiling point. This ensures smooth and consistent braking power even under the most extreme conditions.

What is DoubleTap? DoubleTap® is SRAM’s key technology that replaces traditional designs. The combination of brake and shift levers has not proven effective. SRAM RED, SRAM Force, SRAM Rival, and SRAM Apex feature a brake lever that brakes and a shift lever that shifts.

The advantages of DoubleTap®: With DoubleTap®, shifting is faster and easier. There’s only one direction of movement. To shift up, a quick tap is all it takes. To shift to a lower gear, simply push the lever further.

How DoubleTap works: The ingenious aspect of DoubleTap® technology is the consistent direction of movement of the shift lever. With a short, quick tap, the transport pawl moves the ratchet wheel upward through the shifting range. To shift to a lower gear, the lever is moved a greater length. As it does so, the holding and transport pawls engage quickly and cleanly.

Free Choice of Grip Position: The nearly linear movement of the DoubleTap® levers offers yet another advantage. The shift lever can be operated from virtually any grip position. Grip Width Adjustment
