The Shimano Ultegra BR-R8100 side-pull brake impresses with a clear contact feeling and a well-balanced ratio between braking power, stiffness and low weight. The brake caliper owes this to a sophisticated dual pivot construction as well as SLR-EV technology. Despite increased 28C tire clearance, the rim brake features a decidedly slim design.

SLR-EV | The SLR-EV technology extends the Shimano Linear Response concept which aims for improved response and optimum modulation. Symmetrical dual pivot side-pull brakes with SLR-EV system use two bearings and a roller to achieve greater efficiency in the joint area. However, SLR-EV also has a positive effect on the modulation of direct mount calipers, so that current models can boast a 36 % increase in braking force.
