Discover uvex surge road bike helmets

The uvex surge series includes three road bike helmets designed to balance cooling with aerodynamics. Developed with the pros of Team Intermarché-Wanty, the helmets were ridden to three Tour stage wins in 2024. Large vents channel air over your head on hot climbs, while the aero cover closes off some of the openings when speed takes priority. Choose from the surge, surge aero MIPS and ultimate surge carbon MIPS. You'll find the complete series here, along with matching eyewear from the uvex sportstyle series.

Why choose the uvex surge series?

Cooling features, fit and aerodynamics work together to give you the right setup for the ride.

  • Two helmets in one: Remove the cover for climbs and clip it on for fast, flat sections.
  • Dialed-in fit: The 3D IAS Pro system adjusts both width and height down to the millimeter.
  • Ready to ride: Popular sizes and colors are available from stock.

uvex surge models at a glance

Your priorities decide which surge suits you. The surge puts ventilation first for hot rides and long climbs. Step up to the aero models when drag matters, with the ultimate surge carbon MIPS at the top of the range – and the top of the price scale.

uvex surge: maximum ventilation for hot days

The surge is the entry model for long summer climbs. Large air intakes keep air moving through the helmet, while an in-molded cage supports the shell. If you want more aerodynamic performance, you can add the aero cover separately.

uvex surge aero MIPS: two helmets in one

The surge aero MIPS comes with the aero cover included. Clip it on to close off some of the air intakes, or remove it for maximum ventilation. Mips Air Node adds rotational protection, while the SNAP buckle closes easily with one hand.

uvex ultimate surge carbon MIPS: the flagship

The ultimate surge carbon MIPS adds a large carbon shell to reinforce the Multi-Inmould construction. Its CFD-optimized shape reduces drag, while CCubed Cooling Effect moves moisture away and uses evaporative cooling to help keep your head cool.

Technology behind the uvex surge series

The surge series pairs a thin, stable shell construction with rotational protection and a removable aero cover. Developed with professional racers and tested on the track and in the wind tunnel, each technology targets cooling, protection or aerodynamic efficiency.

Mips Air Node in the uvex surge series

Mips Air Node uses a thin, low-friction layer attached to small hook-and-loop points inside the helmet. During an angled impact, the layer can move relative to the shell to help reduce rotational forces. Its minimal attachment points leave the ventilation channels open. You'll find Mips Air Node in the surge aero MIPS and ultimate surge carbon MIPS.

Clip-on aero cover

The form-fitting aero cover clips directly onto the outside of the helmet. It covers the large air intakes while leaving dedicated openings for continued airflow. The smoother profile reduces drag, with the aerodynamic effect verified through simulations and testing on the track and in the wind tunnel.

Multi-Inmould construction

Multi-Inmould construction fuses the impact-absorbing EPS core with several polycarbonate shells during molding instead of bonding them afterward. This creates a thin, stable structure. An in-molded cage reinforces the surge so the shell can use large vents without sacrificing stiffness. The ultimate surge carbon MIPS adds a carbon shell for further reinforcement.

Frequently asked questions about the uvex surge series

Is the aero cover included with the uvex surge?

The surge aero MIPS comes with an aero cover, while the surge does not. For the surge, the cover is available separately in several colors. It clips on and off without tools. Check the size information in the product description to make sure the cover matches your helmet shell.

What head circumferences does the uvex surge series cover?

The surge comes in three shell sizes covering head circumferences from 53 to 61 cm. Measure around your head two finger-widths above your eyebrows and compare the measurement with the size chart on the relevant product page, as sizing varies between models.

Can I buy replacement pads for the uvex surge series?

Yes. We carry the CoolMax Eco pad for the surge and the airNODE pad designed for the MIPS system in the surge aero MIPS. Replacing worn pads after lots of sweaty miles helps maintain a secure, precise fit. You'll find both replacement options in the series.
